F*#cked up GH2 or just the card?? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8520/fcked-up-gh2-or-just-the-card Wed, 23 Oct 2013 04:22:44 +0000 Carnevali 8520@/talks/discussions Hello guys!! I’m new here and wanted to share my bad experience with my GH2 last days: I’ve been using DW quantum b2 patch since February this year, but now something happened that started to give me issues: 1- It won’t record continuously for more than 5min on 24H (154mbps) and less than 1min on 24L(40mbps) and 720p SH (80mbps) modes. I use a Sony SDHC 16gb card rated at 45mb/s write speed. 2- It won’t let me upload any new firmware on the camera, neither patched one nor original V1.1. And I’m pretty sure I’m doing things wright here. When I press play it will just prompt “no valid picture to play” Repeat, I’ve been using this patch and bitrates since February with not issues, just now that I tried some changes on audio settings… Filmed one day without problems and then… Sh*#t happened.

I will appreciate any opinions from someone who has had the same problem or knows how to solve it. Many thanks!!

HDD issues and repair topic http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4506/hdd-issues-and-repair-topic Sat, 08 Sep 2012 06:14:29 +0000 inqb8tr 4506@/talks/discussions Yesterday I have copied footage from cards on a hard drive, and while watching clips, i noticed some kind of glitches and drops appearing. I realized that it happens only with footage copied to one particular hard drive - 1-2 months old 2TB seagate ST2000DM001. When I copied files from same cards onto another hdd everything was ok. When I copied files (with drops) from seagate to another drive, and played them from the healthy drive - footage was damaged, video glitches like half frame drop, something like that, in movist it is like bright green blocks, in other players and Premiere they are just transparent half frame drops, similar to damaged beta tape, if anyone remembers that. Some files don't have glitches but when I copy them on the same drive but to another folder, they get damaged. This happens with MTS files and also after transcoding to Prores422 HQ. Luckily I always backup new jobs immediately, but I have some other projects on that drive.

Is that hdd dying? I didn't know that dying hdd can damage video files internally.

DR-100 recording issues need help http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3802/dr-100-recording-issues-need-help- Fri, 06 Jul 2012 16:18:43 +0000 No_SuRReNDeR 3802@/talks/discussions I just did a short the previous weekend and the audio was recorded on a Tascam DR-100...I was the DP but Im taking flak. I dont know what the heck happened but the recorded audio its a frickn' mess... the levels are barely there except the slates...the noise in the signal is really bad and I know it wasnt the expensive Seinheisser I have been using for years... which on all my own stuff always comes out really clean and nice.

Too me it almost sounds like it was recording both the boom and the on-recorder mics... but the levels of the signal are barely there in Audition or Soundtrack except the slate claps. One thing that is weird is that it was eating batteries for breakfast must have went through 20 batteries in 3 hours or so...

ANYWAYS...I need help not sure what to do the whole movie is ruined.

NOTE Oh and yeah I caught the mp3 thing after the 1st card dump- scolded the sound guy- even the 24 bit WAVS are the same state...
