I searched the forum and the whole internet for this problem, but didn't find any post or anyone having this problem, so I started a new topic for this and hope I didn't search for the wrong keywords... ;). I am using the GH2 for video shooting very short time and all I am doing these days is not really working well. I know that it should be easy to use firmware patches but for me it turns out not to be that easy as it maybe should. I used a few patches and tested around with each for quite a bit and tried to check wether the patch is working fine or if there are occuring errors while recording. I would need a very stable patch since I always need to record longer footage... not just 15min, but most of the time 2-3 hours. I found that SD card speed is a thing which is why I bought the SanDisk Extreme Pro with 95MB/sec. Used the Sanity 4.1 Patch which should be stable, but the cam stops recording video after some time (I couldn't specify when it does) without any error. It just stops recording and doesn't write the file completely to the card. Used the Quantum X SpanMyBitchUp and I get the same error. Also tried some other patches, some came up with errors that the card is not fast enough, some didn't... most of them didn't...

Since I can't tell why that is and I don't know how to find out why the cam stops recording I am not sure what to do next. Fact is that the patches really do enhance the quality which I would not love to miss ;).

Can anyone help me with this? All the best from Hamburg, Thomas

GX1's wrting speed is lower than GF2 with a same card http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/16227/gx1s-wrting-speed-is-lower-than-gf2-with-a-same-card Sat, 24 Dec 2016 09:14:46 +0000 Mitchell718 16227@/talks/discussions Hi everyone, Merry Christmas!!

I owned a GF2 since 2012 and bought a used GX1 recently for video shooting.

I hacked my GF2 with settings with over 100 Mbps in MP4 and the gear worked well with my Sandisk 45m/s card (U-1) Then I hacked the GX1 with the same setting (for example, driftwood's MOON T9) and used the same Sandisk 45 m/s card. Surprisingly GX1 always showed writing error due to card speed, which never happened with my GF2! I tried several lower mbps settings at around 60-70 mbps with my GX1, no writing error came up, but the video became very unsmooth when played in my computer. The unsmooth playback is obviously caused by the insufficient writing speed during recording.

Quite confused that GX1, a camera supporting SDXC U1 card, could have insufficient wrting speed problem which never happens with GF2, an older model without SDXC card support.

I know GX1 is not a gear metioned often here, but I still would like to know any GX1 owner or any expert ( like @Vitality_Kiselev or @Driftwood :)) could help with it.

BTW, this is my first post and I would like to take the chance to thank every setting provider like @Vitality_Kiselev , @Driftwood for bringing my GF2 to a new level of videography. I have so much fun with it!!!

Thank you!

Trying to flash camera w/apefos settings; getting general error http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13929/trying-to-flash-camera-wapefos-settings-getting-general-error Tue, 13 Oct 2015 18:05:03 +0000 smrlo 13929@/talks/discussions So I've been trying to download any of the settings by apefos to see if they reduce the "rain" artifact but cannot get ptools to recognize any of them. It works fine with most of the other settings I've downloaded (just did so for sanity), although there have been certain ones that it would not recognize previously. Is there something I'm missing? There are other people who have been able to download his patches, so I'm somewhat confused why this is happening. When I open the file in ptools it just gives me a generic "error" message; when I try to open the file in windows it says "the Compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupt." Appreciate any help offered.

P.S. I sent Apefos a message but am still waiting to hear from him, just thought I'd try all possible avenues to figure this out.

QUESTION - GH2 AVCHD Timecode Corruption on Import into FCPX http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5349/question-gh2-avchd-timecode-corruption-on-import-into-fcpx Sat, 01 Dec 2012 19:34:22 +0000 nyexcuse 5349@/talks/discussions So I have had this issue for a couple weeks now, and I don't know where else to turn.

I hacked my GH2 a few months ago and things have been pretty lovely so far. A couple weeks ago, however, as I was importing some AVCHD files from my SD card (64GB SanDisk Extreme) into Final Cut Pro X and some of them gave me this error upon import:

"Import Failed: The following clip encountered an error during import and is still referencing media on the camera: Clip Name: 2012-12-01 19:21:00 Event: X Original Name: Clip #X Volume: NO NAME"

After looking around, I noticed that the files that presented this issue had a strange timecode. Instead of displaying a normal start time of "00:00:00:00" they started with "23:27:41:06". Only some files are like this, and as far as I can tell it only happens to clips that used lenses that have been adapted to the camera (non-4/3 Panasonic lenses).. Other than that I don't know what's going on.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Cheers

FCPX Error Message http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11969/fcpx-error-message Tue, 16 Dec 2014 08:00:57 +0000 diggedyfresh 11969@/talks/discussions I've been using FCPX at work for simple editing and DVD creation. I just tried to burn a 1 hour 15 minute DVD and received the following error message after it tried to burn for a while:

(com.apple.compressor.compressorkit.errordomain error -1.)

As far as I know no one changed any settings between the last burn and this one. I've found other forums with 15-20 people having the same issue but no one has posted a solution that I've seen. Anybody seen this issue before and been able to troubleshoot it?

Insert SD card again error http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11925/insert-sd-card-again-error Tue, 09 Dec 2014 09:30:04 +0000 LongJohnSilver 11925@/talks/discussions I'm getting very often the "Insert SD card again" error on one of my GH2 camera. I tried ro format in camera several times with no luck. The card seems to work with other camera/reader and the camera seems to work with other SD cards. Sometimes it happens whn powering the camera with sd inside.

Any suggestion?

Vanilla Hack Crashing Sandisk Extreme 95mb/s http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6649/vanilla-hack-crashing-sandisk-extreme-95mbs Tue, 09 Apr 2013 21:33:58 +0000 sesame2013 6649@/talks/discussions I applied the vanilla hack, tested it and was able to crash it reliably at 12000 ISO even when using the SanDisk Extreme PRo SDHC UHS-I Card 32GB. (Any rapid or semi rapid pan crashed it). I did some further testing (rapid pans at regular ISOs) and it seemed stable enough to bring on a shoot, so now I'm out in the field and it occasionally crashes at 160 ISO when dealing with complex outdoor scenery.

I'm confused and surprised that a card rated up to 95mb/s is crashing with a hack that is at 44mb/s??? Has anyone else experienced this? It also crashes on my older Transcend Class 10 16GB cards but not that much more frequently. Completely lame given the cost differential between these two cards.

I'm considering reverting back to baseline, but nervous to do so in the middle of a shoot (the vanilla hack was my first hack on the GH2 so this is still new to me). For now I'm working around it. Any advice or thoughts are appreciated.

Can't playback videos http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6447/cant-playback-videos Wed, 20 Mar 2013 08:42:56 +0000 Nori 6447@/talks/discussions Hey there, GH2 + 128 Gb Sandisk (45Mb/S). I hope I'm in the good section for my question. After hacked my GH2, I have troubles with Playing back my videos on the GH2. Sometimes it writes me 'Can't playback video'. The hack consisted using ptoo3.66d (beta) changed the bitrate to 88Mb, AQ=4 and PAL/NTSC Menu. I checked the integrity of the card, no errors found. No errors during recording videos (at least, no messages or breaks). May be my possible error was I put Increment to 12 and after rehacking it I put Increment 10. Someone already met this problem ? Best,

Read Error Please Check The Card http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2912/read-error-please-check-the-card Tue, 17 Apr 2012 15:37:21 +0000 dualreality 2912@/talks/discussions Today I was using the Driftwood v3b Rocket patch in HBR mode and when playing back the video in-camera I experienced: "READ ERROR PLEASE CHECK THE CARD". This error appeared approximately 4 seconds into a 30 second clip. I turned the camera on and off and received the same error at the exact same point of playback. I received an identical error on practically every other clip that I shot. I've never had this problem before when using this patch. I didn't have a replacement SD card at the time of shooting so had to hope for the best!

Thankfully, after importing the files to my PC, the clips are fine and are fully intact.

The card I was using was a near-brand-new 32GB SANDISK EXTREME (NOT PRO) 45MB/s

I decided to try a little experiment to see if was a fault with the card. I transferred all the data from the card in question to another SD card (same make and model). Exactly the same error cropped up on the exact same clips at the exact same places when playing back in-camera.

Has anyone else run into this or have any theories or solutions.

SOLVED: GH2 Firmware upgrade - No Valid Picture to Play error http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1809/solved-gh2-firmware-upgrade-no-valid-picture-to-play-error Wed, 21 Dec 2011 19:41:38 +0000 wastedthelight 1809@/talks/discussions
When you open pTool and load the firmware, at the bottom you should see a letter somewhere between A and J in green, click it. This now loads the presets. NOW click "Version Increment" (first option in the option tree). Then change the Increment to something such as 10.

The key issue here is that I was changing the Version Increment BEFORE clicking the presets. So as far as the camera was concerned, no new firmware was on my card.]]>
After hack - buttons acting strange http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1572/after-hack-buttons-acting-strange Mon, 28 Nov 2011 12:15:20 +0000 Blackout 1572@/talks/discussions
Odd thing is though, suddenly my white balance button and and iso button don't work and go to focus set up when I hit them, even though I have everything set to manual... I can change the other hard function buttons but I can't seem to get the white balance button to work as it should (go to white balnce menu) nor the iso hard button. I am having to use the touch screen which I don't care for.

Anyone on how I fix this?

Bad 3rd party battery can cause weird behaviour or shutting off. http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/152/bad-3rd-party-battery-can-cause-weird-behaviour-or-shutting-off. Mon, 30 May 2011 07:04:45 +0000 Toronto 152@/talks/discussions
This appears to be related to some kind of pressure sensitivity of the battery itself as it is a 3rd party battery, and I was having it shut off randomly off the tripod a couple times too, but I did notice this specific action always produced it shutting off the camera so it may help out those who can't figure out why this is happening, perhaps thinking it is a hacked camera setting, when it may just be how tight your camera is on the tripod. (In other words I could not even have it at normal tightness with the 3rd party battery, which kind of defeats the purpose of a tripod if I wanted to pan it wouldn't pan correctly since the thread was not tight enough into the camera to keep the camera on snug.

Update: I just tried the panasonic battery and could not replicate this problem (I could have the camera as tight as I wanted with the panasonic battery). So it appears only the 3rd party battery I got off ebay (dmw-blb13) has this pressure sensitivity issue. So if you get these 3rd party batteries, you may end up having to use them handheld most of the time so there is no pressure on the battery plate area of the camera.

I am not sure if this problem happend before I installed the 'unhackable' hack or not. I did notice that there was a setting related to 3rd party batteries in the new ptool (can't remember if I checked or unchecked it when making the hacked bin though), but the 3rd party battery was working normally for my 'unhackable' gh1 before I even tried to install ptool for the first time yesterday (I made a one hour recording on it before installing the new ptool), so maybe a setting of some kind could have some relation to this, but I can't know that for sure yet. I do know that only the 3rd party battery is affected either way though, as even after the new hack, my panasonic battery cannot reproduce this error.
