I found a software which can do double frame rate 60i to 60p deinterlace. It is called Avidemux. It uses Yadif Field deinterlace and transform each field in a frame so the 60i footage turns into 60p after deinterlace. The quality is pretty good.

But after deinterlace 60i footage from Sony Nex-F3 and from GH2 I only got 30p, each two sequential frames are identical in the 60p file. The reason is: the cameras sensor output is only 30p recorded wraped in 60i, so it is impossible to get 60p because there is not 60 different fields in the recorded file, there are only 30 different fields.

But if you want to transform 60i into 30p the results are pretty good.

De-interlace GH2 footage in Premiere?

I'm trying to find out if there's a way to get suitable 1080 60i footage from my GH2 into Premiere to feed into Twixtor without dropping to 720p. I'll be looking to drop the frame rate to 24, preferably progressive, for further slow motion by Twixtor. As I understand it, GH2 shoots 1080 60i. I've shot a clip in 60i, but both Premiere and Media Player Classic report it as being 29.97 and interlaced. Consequently I don't know how to get to the 60 frames in Premiere. I can de-interlace the footage but it stays at 29.97fps.

So three questions basically. 1. Is there a way to get Premiere to recognize and deinterlace the 60 frames and turn it into 24p footage? 2. Do I even need to deinterlace for Twixtor? 3. Avixdemux recognized the footage as 60i, and I've seen posts where people use third-party software to deinterlace. Is Premiere not a good tool for this job?

GH2 Deinterlacing 50i in FCP

Inside FCP, I get field dominance as Upper Field. However, when I try to deinterlace it using Compressor or other FCP plugins, I am still left with interlaced artifacts.
So what is the workflow that people use to deinterlace this footage ?
