I'm thinking of parking two or three LED panels in Europe because it is such a PIA to travel with them. What's the best deal for reasonably high CRI panels in the 400-700 LED bulbs size? Must be silent/fanless. TUA.

If you want small cheap (around $10-12) light to add touches to your main set it can work.

MR16 High CRI lights for home studio

Currently, I'm retrofitting my IKEA flying saucer 12v MR16 system with high CRI MR16 LED bulbs. There's a lot of these 12v systems around; they are easy and flexible to set up, and many of them can be adjusted--they are cheap and easy, and the halogen style bulbs were actually pretty good, although not a lot of light.

They aren't cheap, but the light quality is very good so far, supposedly CRI 95.
You can also use these lights in 12 volt situations, like off grid, campers, back yard studios, etc.

Fluorescent tubes as practicals?

Hi, I want to use practicals in a class room. There are normal fluorescents tubes mounted to the ceiling, which can easily be replaced. But the room is also flooded with daylight through windows (which will be "dimmed" by using ND gels). I want a good colour match between the tube-light and the daylight from the windows.

Would this tubes do the trick:

I think 50Hz flickering is not much of a problem, as there is no fast motion in the scenes and I can adjust the shutter speed as needed (using a BMPCC at 24 fps).

Any input about using fluorescent tubes are welcome:-)
