Affordable Counterweight Solutions

Been looking into adding a counterweight to my cheapo Chinese shoulder mount and haven't really been able to find anything satisfactory. I live in Australia, so I am fairly limited in what I have access to; would love to pick up one of these: http://opteka.com/cbw2.aspx, but that would cost $90, which is absurd.

Not too keen on the whole DIY lead diving weight idea on account of lead being poisonous and all. Don't particularly need a V-Mount battery pack for anything.

Any ideas? Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

Yep, seen that thread, none of that is readily available here in Australia. Not for less than double the RRP, anyway.

Seen that one too. I am planning on doing a bit more research on it - should be doable if I can find all the parts. Am interested in hearing about any alternatives people may have come across.

I bought a 15mm rail block and glued a scuba diving belt weight to it with epoxy resin. You can buy different weights if you wanted to vary the load you're carrying.
