20mm f/1.7 lens ring

    Hello, By default (if autofocus AF is on : when I click AF/MF button, MPAS is enabled) , the lens ring of my 20mm f/1.7 does nothing (unused).

    Is it possible to assign the lens ring to some parameter ?

    By default (when AF is on), it is useless.

    That ring controls the motor that is inside the lens. It is highly unlikely that it could do anything else without some serious hardware modifications, that could be performed only by some runaway team of Panasonic engineers that happen to have hijacked a lens factory.

    But i suppose that you can always attach something over the lens, like key chain or dog leash, maybe grocery bag or something, perhaps even a small collapsible umbrella!

    No. A function assignment isn´t possible (to the lens ring).

    It is a shame that we cannot use the lens ring if AF is on.

    It would be great to be able to use AF (half press the shutter button) + manual focus (with lens ring) at the same time.

    Is this possible ?

    I leave it on af and then "push to focus" while recording if I have to adjust the focus, can live with that...
