I am trying to put together a showreel for a position I would like to apply for ( Animator with Graphic Design Skills )
I have basic skills in After Effects ( nulls, wiggler, write on etc ) and have played around with taking the vector paths from Illustrator extruding 3d shapes.
Wondering if anyone has any of their own work or examples they could point me to that contain current motion graphics techniques that would be considered necessary for 'high end fast turnaround productions for large corporate clients and on TV commercials'.
My background is in video so I was thinking of doing x5 5second videos that I can lay the graphics over. Each with a different theme and technique.
Any help would be great, tutorials, show reels, advice whatever!!
Thanks :)
Have a look here http://ae.tutsplus.com/ lots of nice tutorials
@mikey the effect on the text at 0:57 isn't optical flares or crop masks, they're simply using a blur in only the horizontal direction (most of the blurs in AE allow you to decouple the X from Y parameter) and animating its magnitude. It gives it a feeling of motion without moving at all.
If you want to see some mind-blowing motion graphics, look no further than MK12. As far as I'm concerned, they're the Industrial Light and Magic of motion graphics companies:
...they are masters at recreating and extrapolating on the look of analog (optical printer) motion graphics. They one-upped (and then some) the Imaginary Forces opening for Casino Royale with their main title sequence for Quantum of Solace:
Thanks for the reply love them bond intros!!
