You can use better mounting with this arm (generally any that accepts 15mm rods), like relatively cheap ($30) angle clamp

I do not like this knobs. This clamp is available for much longer time.
Lensse clamp is newer and looks like better option. But someone may really like small knobs.

Granted a lot of these clamps on this forum mount directly to the support rods, but I found this on Amazon recently and purchased it. I use it with my 5" Lilliput HDMI monitor and Letus K1 shoulder mount, it's incredibly stable and well made in my opinion. So much so that I purchased a 2nd one for mounting my GH2 to other objects besides the K1.

I also suggest to try Weildy arm. Such arm is very handy on rig or on rail support.

The problem I've found with these single mount arms is that when on dollies or other moving structures, they tend to wobble as the dolly moves. It makes it very hard to focus and frame reliably. Are there any dual mounts(bar mounts in two places for stability) out there? I had to make my own cause I did not find any in my searches.

What do you mean?
You want double arms? Use flash bracket in this case to mount two arms to it and monitor to bracket.

I meant where the hotshoe mount attaches to the shaft of the arm is a single point and becomes a vibration pivot point so the whole arm wobbles back and forth with the heavy LCD on the other end. I made an arm with two points of attachment(think of holding a shovel with two hands) which greatly reduces the wobble. Is there nothing commercial that does this as well?

Hi,

I've been trying to find out whether the hot shoe mount on this friction arm is removable as I would like to mount directly to the 1/4" or 3/8" thread on my tripod head and then to a 5.6" monitor but it isn't clear whether this is possible with any of the cheap friction arms that I can see on amazon UK...

As for your question - check images on first post, ones that lie on palm. You can unscrew hot shoe part.
