Interesting that Tokina releases this lens short time after release of the new Nikon 70-200 f/4 VR. If this lens came few months earlier, already many samples would have been sold.
They have their own thoughts.
This lens can be also interesting with focal reducer for APS-C and m43 crowd.
Of course it is interesting lens. VR is fantastic feature
While I don't mind the lack of iris control on the Tokina 11-16 where I find it less critical. On a long lens like this, I think I'd struggle without more precise control.

You could control aperture either with G converter, as I understand. At least it is so for my Nikon lenses without aperture rings.
@vitaliy_kiselev I have the Novoflex G converter, it's really well made and has a really nice dampened iris control ring. But, the limited throw of the arm that controls the iris means that critical control is very difficult, and almost unknown in terms of value. It's better than nothing though.
It would be nice is a manufacturer were able to create a geared iris ring that would allow more precise control.
Test of similar Nikkor AF-S 70-200 mm f/4 ED VR

I really wonder how does this price tag come? Nikon 70-200 f/4 VR3 is even cheaper. And it is awsome lens. The chance of this Tokina would be Sony E mount... And how is it with Canon? None of Nikon users will buy it.
Tokina AT-X lenses are not cheap :-) May be it is parfocal zoom, may be construction and glass quality.
I really hope they will have success with this lens. Good luck, Tokina!
A variant for Sony E-mount would be totally great, did they announce that?
