I've mainly used my GH2 for photography up to now but I want to use it to shoot a short film in 1080p, 24fps at high bit rate because it'll be shown of fairly large screens. Could anyone recommend which hack would be best for the purpose. And I freely admit that I have no idea what I'm doing.

Should get you on the right track.
Thank you. That popular settings chart doesn't half explain a lot! Cheers!
If you're not fully comfortable with video, you might consider just shooting your film unhacked. The unhacked image is gorgeous and it'll be glitch free and take up less HDD space.
Yeah, there are lot of settings to chooose from, which actually is a good thing. best bet is to start exploring the site. but if you want a quick answer...many people really like the Sedna settings as they are reliable and produce a very nice filmic image.
