This 16 years old text is pretty interesting to read, now that many of its future scenario ideas start to materialize.
... What we do suggest is that the human race might easily permit itself to drift into a position of such dependence on the machines that it would have no practical choice but to accept all of the machines’ decisions.
I was reminded of this old text when I read that one can write best-selling books today about the topic, so many years later, not really telling anything new that wasn't pretold back then, already :-)
Idea of such utopian future, full of super advanced machines working on your farts sound attractive.
Yet, always considering human race to be bunch of unorganized idiots kills all attraction.
